We have been producing Syrah under the RV label since 2002. That first vintage
spent 18 months in new American oak barrels from World Cooperage. It has been
ready to drink now for a couple of years and is my favorite at the moment. Drop
by my house any given moment and you will likely find a bottle of the 2002 RV
Syrah open on the counter.
The 2003 and 2004 vintages are also in bottles and showing well. The 2003 vintage
has a lighter oak character due to a lower percentage of new oak barrels and so,
was drinkable at an earlier age. The 2004 still has significant oak character
and can be enjoyed now or held for a number of years. I am confident that the
2004 Syrah has not yet reached it's prime and you can expect great things from
this wine within the next few years.
