Rasmussen Family Vineyards, located 5 miles east of Highway 101 in Paso Robles, California, began in 1995. Three varieties of red grapes are grown: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot. Each variety is planted on 5BB rootstock, with 5'x10' spacing, allowing for 870 vines per acre. The trellis system is multi-wire, vertical shoot positioned (VSP), and each vine is bilateral cordon trained.
The vineyards are planted on gently sloping land with a southwest exposure, providing optimum sun: 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 acres of Syrah and 4 acres of Merlot. Most of the grapes are sold to local wineries.
